In the 80s, Victor Ang studied Chinese floral brush painting, calligraphy and seal carving under renowned artists, Master Liu Ming Chew, Master Wong Yi and Master Chen Wen Hsi. His mentors saw the potential in him and urged him to participate in local and international exhibitions where he was awarded much recognition in the International Chinese Seal Carving arena in Korea.
In the 90s, Victor broke away from tradition and experimented with a unique 'glass ink tube' technique for Chinese calligraphy. The refinement of this process was reflected in his paintings of many famous temples in Thanjavur, India.
The new millennium moved Victor into yet another new calligraphy medium - 'crushed paper writing' of different textures. This 'paper-writes-on-paper' innovation continues to impress many art lovers.
In the past 25 years, Victor’s paintings and artworks have been put up for auction, exhibition and sales for both personal and charitable purposes, both locally and internationally.
CAREER
Victor has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in print, One arts, design, as well as concept development for television commercials and art direction. He began his career in print design before moving on to international advertising agencies such as Advertising Associates, New&S Advertising and Brownad. He rose through the ranks from Graphic Artist to Resident Designer to Senior Art Director to Creative Director (Art).
Victor has also spent five years in the film industry as a Resident Film Director in Box Office Singapore. He has vast experience from having worked on commercial accounts like Royal Brunei, the Sheraton and Carlton Hotels, Castro!, Moutrie Fashions, Caldbeck MacGregor, Allswell Trading (for Red Bull), Sony (professional equipment), Robert Bosch (corporate and brand - Blaupunkt) as well as Government / Statutory Board accounts which include the Public Utilities Board (PUB), National Fire Prevention Council (NFPC), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), Singapore Armed Forces Reservists Association (SAFRA), Traffic Police and Jurong Bird Park. He also played a vital role in the designing of Singapore Commuter taxis, from the choice of colour to the design of the logo. His hands-on involvement extends from initial concept and visualization to execution, production and final delivery. He was invited by the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts as a Guest Assessor in the mid 90's. In addition, Victor has won several awards for logo design, two of which are for the Singapore Courtesy Council and the Tanjong Pagar Conservation Area.
Victor also has more than 15 years of experience in running Light Bulb Production Pte Ltd, an Advertising & TV Production firm, as the Executive Creative Director & Commercial Film Director. Light Bulb services a wide range of accounts such as Bata Shoe, Chee Seng Sesame Oil, Laguna National Golf & Country Club and Nissin/Myojo Foods. Art Trend Gallery & Cherry Blossom, Eurolimo & Euromobile, Glamour Shots, Orange Communications, The Retreat and The Salon-Georgie Yam make up the lifestyle portfolio, while Chew's Agriculture, Fragrance Foodstuff, Horse Brand Bird's Nest, Lee Say Poultry and Tasty Meat, Delamere Goats Milk, Tong Garden, QQ Meat Balls come under the food related clientele.
